This is an official Partner Event of the 9th Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue Conference, March 28-29, at the Federal Foreign Office.
Organized by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
Solar Photovoltaics (PV) is an important element for the global energy transition. The amount of solar PV deployed around the world has increased tremendously while its costs have declined drastically in the last decade.
This rising global demand for solar PV offers opportunities for new countries and stakeholders to enter this industry, to contribute to the global diversification of the production of solar panels and modules.
This side-event will discuss and deliberate on the questions where South and Southeast Asian countries stand with regard to becoming global suppliers of solar PV key components (cells and modules), what the main challenges on this pathway are and what kind of support private sector cooperation as well as international partnerships (multilateral Just Energy Transition Partnerships, bilateral Energy Partnerships, Climate Club, Clean Energy Ministerial etc.) could provide.
Representatives from countries from South and Southeast Asia as well as from the German government, the private sector and experts are invited to discuss this globally important topic. With this event we hope to contribute to a better understanding of the challenges and possible solutions that could shape international cooperation.
