Newark, California: BELECTRIC, Inc., (BELECTRIC), a leading EPC contractor for solar photovoltaic projects, today announced the completion of four solar facilities located in San Bernardino County, California in the month of December, 2013. The four projects are some of the first to be completed under the Southern California Edison (SCE) California Renewable Energy Small Tariff (CREST) feed-in tariff program. The solar facilities are each 1.95 MW DC / 1.5 MW AC, for a combined capacity of 7.8 MW DC.
“BELECTRIC has proven again that we can permit, design, build, and commission California projects in record time,” said Dr. Karl Markert, CEO of BELECTRIC, Inc. “We were approached by a developer with this set of projects that had their CREST Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) expiring in December 2013. Using local professional support and leveraging our relationships with SCE, CAISO, and local government partners, our in-house development, engineering, and construction team was able to meet the aggressive schedule. This portfolio of projects brings our California project count to 9 solar power plants and we are always looking for new opportunities.”
The Sustainable Power Group (sPower) will be the long term owner-operator of the projects. Ryan Creamer, CEO of sPower, stated “We are pleased to have these projects as part of our portfolio and commend the hard work of BELECTRIC and SCE in finishing these projects before the end of the year. We look forward to providing Southern California Edison’s customers with solar electricity from these projects for the next 20 years.” The four projects will power approximately 1,900 homes and will eliminate 10,290 metric tons of carbon dioxide, the equivalent to planting 454,000 trees. The projects generated 250 jobs at the peak of construction, the majority of which were filled through the use of local subcontractors.
