Jigar Shah, named to the 2024 TIME100 list of the world’s most influential people, is an energy entrepreneur and strategist focused on scaling the infrastructure needed for the clean energy transition.

He is co-Managing Partner of Multiplier, where he works with leading companies to accelerate growth, unlock capital, and deploy large-scale energy and industrial projects.

Most recently, Shah served as Director of the U.S. Department of Energy Loan Programs Office, transforming it into a central engine of U.S. industrial policy by expanding its authority tenfold and helping deploy over $100 billion into domestic manufacturing, advanced transportation, and energy infrastructure.

Shah is widely credited with pioneering modern clean energy finance. He founded SunEdison, where he created the third-party power purchase agreement model that helped launch the global solar industry, and later co-founded Generate Capital, advancing the infrastructure-as-a-service model.

He brings a pragmatic, execution-focused perspective to the energy transition—arguing that the constraint is no longer technology or capital, but the ability to build at speed and scale.

Shah is also co-host of the “Energy Empire” and “Open Circuit” podcasts, where he explores the intersection of energy, policy, and markets.
